St. Ignatius of Loyola: A Sinner yet Called
St. Ignatius of Loyola: A Sinner yet Called
Today, all Jesuits around the globe with the universal Church celebrate the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Every Jesuit studies the life-story of Ignatius through The First Jesuit by Mary Purcell or Autobiography in the Novitiate. I did the same. Therefore, on this joyful day dedicated to our founder, I would like to recite the story of St. Ignatius by heart briefly.
He used to be a page in the court of a local nobleman,
a valiant soldier,
a man given over to the vanities of the world,
a ladies'man,
a definitely rake,
and even it was rumored that he fathered an illegitimate child,
but he could feel that God had all along been loving him.
Then, he became a loved sinner and a sinner yet called for the service of God.

A loved sinner
